Immigrant Investor Program (EB-5)

Each year, the United States provides 10,000 visas for immigrants willing to U.S. economy and create a minimum of ten full-time jobs. The visas are issued category should be distinguished from the E-2 Treaty Investor Nonimmigrant category.

In January 2005, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) memo established a new Investor and Regional Center Unit (IRCU) which would be responsible for overseeing the EB-5 program. Since it began, the IRCU has special rules apply where the investment is made through an approved Regional private, which is involved with the promotion of economic growth, including increased export sales, improved regional productivity, job creation and increased domestic capital investment.” When an applicant invests in a Regional Center, the new commercial enterprise does not have to directly employ ten U.S.
